At a launch held at the KPMG offices in Johannesburg on Thursday, 30 July 2003, the MDDA announced the appointment of Ms Libby Lloyd as CEO. Ms Lloyd is a former ICASA Councillor and consultant. The NAB congratulates Ms Lloyd on her appointment and wishes her well in this new endeavour.

The MDDA also published its draft funding regulations that will govern its Board in allocating funding and support for projects. The proposed regulations, in terms of section 22 of the MDDA Act, 2002, are publsihed for public comment which should reach the MDDA by 01 September 2003. The proposed regulations sets out, amongst others, the following:

• General criteria for selecting projects
• Specific criteria for community media projects
• Specific criteria for research projects
• The procedures for applying for support
