CAPITAL RADIO UP FOR SALE ONCE MORE

ICASA has once again published an invitation to apply for the commercial sound broadcasting licence of Capital Radio. The sale of the assets of Capital Radio is subject to the granting of a licence and the payment of R 6 million to the Department of Communications.

Previous attempts by ICASA to sell the assets of Capital Radio was unsuccesful as no suitable applicants could be found.

The commercial sound broadcasting licence will have a term of six years and includes various assets as well as eight FM and one MW frequencies in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.

Applications should reach ICASA by 09 December 2003 and the Regulator hopes to announce a succesful applicant on 06 April 2004.
