Community radio roadshow

01 November 2000

Many fledgling community stations are still waiting for ICASA to have their licence hearings, delayed for more than three years in some provinces. KwaZulu-Natal will be the next province to go into licensing hearings, which are not yet confirmed but expected to take place early next year

The NAB has decided to set up a workshop at ML Sultan technikon for the 33 KZN applicants who will be presenting their cases to ICASA. The workshop will take the form of "mock hearings", and applicants will put their case before a former ICASA councillor Nadia Bulbulia as if in a real licence hearing. The councillor will give feedback on the applications. Much of the advice will then be published for the use of aspirant stations in other areas.
