ICASA EXTENDS FREQUENCY PLAN DEADLINE

Following numerous requests from industry stakeholders, ICASA has agreed to extend the deadline for submissions on the Draft Terrestrial Broadcast Frequency Plan, 2003. In Government Notice 2242 of 20 August 2003, ICASA extended the deadline from 29 August 2003 to 12 September 2003.

The requests to extend the deadline were made by numerous industry stakeholders after it was felt that the initial period of 30 days, within which submissions had to be made, were not sufficient. The majority of stakeholders requested a further 30 days, to 30 September 2003, in order for meaningful submissions to be made. Although the ICASA extension is not for the full 30 days as requested, it will at least allow more time for industry stakeholders to carefully peruse the Draft Terrestrial Broadcast Frequency Plan, 2003.
