History:

Gagasi 99.5FM is the fastest growing radio station and is the only bilingual commercial radio station in KwaZulu Natal, broadcasting in English and Zulu which serves the listeners’ information and educational needs through specialist features and focused events/promotions.

The station has a strong local identity whereas other radio stations are too Eurocentric in terms of music and content. Gagasi 99.5FM is a contemporary station that plays the best music and recognises the KZN region and has the highest concentration of urban listeners in KZN, more than any other radio station. We are music driven and conduct regular research exercises to ensure that listeners only hear what they want to hear. 

The radio station was launched in March 2006 and is the largest Black Urban Regional radio station in KZN targeting 16 – 34 year old listeners.  Advertising on Gagasi 99.5FM means that a whopping 1 113 000 listeners who live in urban Kwa Zulu Natal (Dbn & Pmb) will hear and respond to our clients’ messages.
