Fine Music Radio

Music format - classical music and jazz; nearly all speech devoted to promotion of events of creative, visual and performing arts and cultural affairs, through magazine interview programs and stations announcements - many at no charge. Also carry public service announcements for organizations having promotions of community benefit. Broadcast language English and Afrikaans.


History:
Launched on 1 July 1995 under auspices and financial investment of Cape Town Symphony Orchestra and a private-sector video-production company. Original location in Longkloof Studios, Tamberskloof then moved to present site in Marble Foyer of the Artscape Theatre Centre on 1 October 1999. Great public visibility, and the first radio station in SA to be as accessible to public viewing. Small staff of 8 run the station on a full-time paid basis, 104 on-air presenters working in rotation all unpaid volunteers. 24-hour service. Spot advertising and airtime sponsorship available, to audience estimated at 60 - 80 thousand, well educated, good household income, travel locally and overseas frequently, have good investment in property and shares; enjoy upmarket lifestyles and take an active interest in the community in general.

Coverage Area:
Approximately 50km radius of the single transmitter on the Tygerberg Hills, Bellville, reaching to Saldanha Bay, Rooi Els and Pringle Bay, several parts of the Boland and most of the Cape Peninsula.
