NAB`s Response to General Notice 1269 of 2002 on the Sharing of Broadcat Frequency Spectrum will WLL Systems in the Range 790 – 854 MHz

To: ICASA
On: 31 Aug 2002

On 12 July 2002, ICASA, in terms of section 29 of the Telecommunications Act and section 29 of the IBA Act, invited interested parties to give written input with regard to amendment of note 3.9.2 of the Radio Frequency Band Plan for frequency in the range of 20MHz to 3 GHz (SABRE 1). The National Association of Broadcasters ("the NAB") welcomes the opportunity to make these written representations. The NAB would like to state at the outset that while it fully supports the principle of sharing spectrum between services whenever possible, as it is a means of maximising efficient use of the spectrum, the NAB is opposed to the current proposal for sharing in the UHF band.
