Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Bill
“The Bill” is one of a number of steps being taken by Government to address the lack of effective participation in the economy by the majority of South Africans. The Bill proposes a Black Economic Advisory Council as an Advisory Council. Support services as funding for the Council will be provided by the Department of Trade and Industry. It also seeks to empower the Minister of trade and Industry to issue codes of practice and to publish transformation charters. The Bill has not yet been introduced to Parliament.
