Copyright Review Commission Report

18 October 2012

In March 2011, the DTI established a Copyright Review Commission (the CRC), which was intended to address concerns by artists that royalties are not properly distributed to the rightful owners of copyright by collecting societies. The Commission comprised of 6 members, chaired by Judge Ian Farlam. Accordingly, the Commission had 6 months within which to conduct its mandate, from February 2011 to July 2011. Numerous consultative processes were conducted, which included the submission of written representations and participation in oral hearings. The CRC has finally published its findings report and its attached hereto.
