Regulations Regarding Fines And Penalties Relating To Non-Compliance Or Non-Adherence By Broadcaster

ICASA has published revised regulations (Government Notice 24070 of 13 November 2002) for the imposition of fines and penalties for non-compliance and non-adherence with the IBA Act, the Broadcasting Act and regulations thereunder.  Categories of contravention have been increased to four. The regulations define each category and the types of contraventions contemplated under each.





The maximum fines under each of these categories are:





Category 1 - R 1 000 000


Category 2 - R   500 000


Category 3 - R   100 000


Category 4 - R     50 000
