The NAB Pays tribute to Peter Matlare
The NAB was deeply saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Peter Matlare, a former chairperson of the NAB and an incredible business leader across various industries. Peter was greatly respected and admired by the broadcasting sector. He has been hailed as a pioneer for transformation and ethical leadership, from having led a successful commercial enterprise in Primedia, to turning the SABC into a credible and profitable public entity between 2001 and 2005, without sacrificing its public service mandate.
We join industry colleagues across the country in paying tribute to this remarkable South African who was a consummate professional, committed to good governance and excellence. We pay homage to his passion, dedication and contribution to broadcasting especially in the formative years of our democracy. Peter’s charisma, generosity, warmth and exceptional leadership will be sorely missed. It is with immense gratitude and respect that we bid farewell. Our heartfelt condolences to his wonderful family, friends and associates. Our thoughts are also with his beloved wife Nomvula at this incredibly difficult time.
