Women Shaping the Future of Broadcasting: Dianne Broodryk

13 August 2026 | NAB

Dianne Broodryk began her media career as an intern at the SABC in 1992 before progressing into influential television and radio journalism roles. Driven by a lifelong passion for storytelling, she has always believed that media is a powerful platform to inform, inspire, and connect communities.

She joined Jacaranda FM because of her exceptional commitment to journalism and meaningful storytelling. Over time, she recognised that many of the stories she covered required more than awareness: they required action. This inspired her transition into the role of CSI & Purpose Lead, a position she has passionately developed over the past two decades.

Under Broodryk's leadership, purpose has continued to be a central component of Jacaranda FM's identity. During her tenure, R147 million has been raised and distributed through initiatives that have transformed lives across South Africa for more than two decades. Through Good Morning Angels and numerous community partnerships, she has turned compassion into action by funding life-saving medical treatment, supporting educational opportunities, assisting families in crisis, and restoring hope to vulnerable individuals and communities.

In the past year alone, following the devastating floods in Limpopo and Mpumalanga, she led and coordinated support that assisted 7 650 families. Recent initiatives include raising funds for hearing aids for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, life-changing surgical equipment for young burn victims, and corrective surgery for children with cleft palates. These interventions have restored hope, improved health outcomes, and created opportunities that many families could not otherwise afford.

She has also supported more than 4 500 children, secured over R4.5 million for education initiatives, facilitated R2.9 million for healthcare assistance, and contributed north of R300 000 to animal rescue services in the last financial year, through Good Morning Angels.

Through every initiative, Dianne demonstrates the power of purpose, compassion, and ubuntu. Her unwavering commitment to serving others has transformed thousands of lives, proving that meaningful storytelling, combined with decisive action, can create sustainable social impact and strengthen communities across South Africa.

On the importance of inclusivity in broadcasting, she says: “It is my privilege to serve all communities through media. True broadcasting is inclusive, it ensures every voice is heard, every story is valued, and together those voices have the power to create meaningful and lasting change.”
